Walking the Red Carpet

Smithville Primary Elementary celebrated the success from the Boosterthon Fun Run last Friday with a movie star dress-up day. Every student walked the red carpet surrounded by cheering fans at the start of the assembly.  During the week leading up to the Fun Run, students received pledges from every state and three countries.  We successfully collected 99% of our pledges and raised over $20,000 to support technology at our school.  Thank you to our amazing families for your support!

  Attendance Goal
A challenge was issued at the February assembly.  Students are working to beat the attendance rate of 94.6% in the month of March and April!  We are proud to announce that April's attendance was 95.4%!  We are halfway to achieving our goal and earning a rock concert performed by Mr. Espey at our May assembly.  Thank you for working hard to be at school on time daily.

Your support is needed!
"In the coming years, we should build on [our] progress, by ... offering every student the hands-on computer science and math classes that make them job-ready on day one."

I am currently trying to raise funds that will allow me to establish the first SPES robotics club!   Please help spread the word or offer your support by clicking here.

Coding is the career of the future. Today, coding is a revered job skill. But tomorrow, the ability to code will be expected of nearly everyone. And like any language, coding is best learned while young.

In the workshop, Kindergarten and Second grade students have been working on fundamentals of computer coding.  First graders are completing a Google Slides presentation on a topic of choice to share with their class.
