Mr. Jake Sobbe
Hi! My name is Jake Sobbe and I am a Social Studies teacher at Smithville High School. This will be my 6th year teaching overall and here at Smithville. I am an assistant baseball and football coach. I also played collegiate baseball at local Park University where I also received my bachelor's degree in Secondary Education with an emphasis in Social Studies. I chose to teach social studies because I value the past to guide our decisions for our future. I made the decision to be here at Smithville High School because I love the area. I have always been around the Smithville Lake area from about early-elementary until now. Smithville has always been an attraction for me because I love to be outside, in the water, or just riding my bike. I chose education because I always grew up in the field. I spend most of my summers traveling, swimming, and doing the occasional diving session. I love traveling to places where the normal/average person doesn't travel.
I am from the northland in Kansas City, Missouri. I grew up in the area in the North Kansas City School District and Park Hill School District. Education hasn't been a fallback plan but a primary decision to the advancement of my own learning. I am the youngest of 4 children (2 of my siblings are also educators/coaches). My father was an educator in the NKC and Park Hill Schools Districts for 30+ years. I have lived in education.
This year I will teach Criminal Justice and World History. My passions in history are philosophy and classical civilizations. Here at Smithville High School, I coach baseball and football. I will be an 11th grade Warrior Time teacher and I AM WARRIOR STRONG and we can all BE THE ONE!
