My name is James Pickert, and I have been teaching Science at SHS since 2018. I was born and raised in the Kansas City northland but moved away for five years to a small town in rural Kansas to teach science (and chase loan forgiveness opportunities).
I graduated from Emporia State University with a degree in Chemistry and Physics with an emphasis on secondary education. I've been a teacher since 2013, and I'm pursuing a Physics master's degree (Teaching Emphasis) through Texas A&M Commerce to further expand my toolkit as a science teacher.
I teach Physical Science, AP Physics (Algebra and Calculus-based), and Chemistry. My goal is for students to explore the process of science and show them how they can use it to investigate the mysteries of our world and universe. I am a ninth grade Warrior Time teacher and I hope to help my students Start Strong in their high school journey!
