LAST DAY OF SCHOOL AND FUTURE INCLEMENT WEATHER

As of today, inclement weather has resulted in eight (8) school cancellations for the 2018-19 school year. Due to the number of cancellations this year and the uniqueness of our late start to the school year, at last night's Board of Education Meeting, the Board authorized district administration authority to adjust the 2018-19 school calendar to ensure that the last day of school is no later than June 7, 2019, if further inclement weather occurs. With this recommendation, the Board forgave day 175 of the school calendar for students and for all staff without 12-month contracts.  A consideration when making this recommendation to the Board were the results of the 2018-2019 Inclement Weather Survey shared with parents/guardians, students, and staff on Tuesday, February 12, 2019. The survey response rate was 33.2%. The survey results are available here.

As a result of the Board’s action, the last day of school will be June 7, 2019. The last day of school will be an early dismissal for all students. If there are additional inclement weather days,  the make-up days will occur in the following order: Friday, March 22, Monday, March 25, and Friday, April 19.

    • If we miss a 9th day, it will be made up on Friday, March 22

    • If we miss a 10th day, it will be forgiven by DESE

    • If we miss an 11th day, it will be made up on Monday, March 25th

    • If we miss a 12th day, it will be forgiven by DESE

    • If we miss a 13th day, it will be made up on Friday, April 19th

    • If we miss 14 or more days, these days will ALL be forgiven

Summer school will begin on Monday, June 10. Details about summer school will be shared on March 21, 2019.

Buy A Senior Tribute for the 2018-2019 Yearbook!

We know you are so proud of your teen’s accomplishments. Tell them how great they are by purchasing a Senior tribute in the Smithville High School yearbook.

Use a tribute to congratulate your graduating Senior or even acknowledge a special academic or athletic achievement during the school year. An ad in the yearbook allows you to recognize your Warrior with photos and words. While the yearbook lets your student remember all the special people and events from
the school year, the personal touch of an ad will make the book that much more special for them.

Senior tributes are available in a variety of sizes and prices. Tributes are easy to order through yearbooksforever.com

If you have any questions or would like more information, please feel free to contact the yearbook staff at yearbook@smithville.k12.mo.us

    Sincerely,

    ATTENTION SENIORS!

    Hi, seniors!

I realize many of you won't take professional photos until the weather gets nicer. For that reason, I have understandably extended the deadline:

    1. Please submit your photos (baby and senior) by April 19th, 2019. I really cannot go past this deadline!

    2. If you've already sent me photos in a rushed frenzy to meet the previous deadline and would rather have chosen different photos, please send me an email with "PREFERRED PHOTO" as the headline with the new photos so I know which to use.

    3. Alternatively, if you do NOT want photos of yourself displayed in the slideshow, please let me know so that I don't keep bothering you! Some students have requested this, and that's totally fine!
