Mrs. Dawn Jenkins

I am originally from Savannah, MO.  I have taught 1 year at Truman Middle School in St. Joseph, 5 years at Plattsburg High School and am currently beginning my 18th year at Smithville High School.  I came to SHS because I love the small town feel that the community offers.  I currently have a Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics from Missouri Western State University, along with a Master's Degree and Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership from Northwest Missouri State University.  I became an educator because I have wanted to teach since I was in elementary school.  I love math and helping people, so this profession was perfect for me.

I am married with one son, three grown stepchildren, two grandbabies and two german shepherds.  All are spoiled rotten, especially the dogs!  I love scary movies, WWE and DOGS!  All furry pets are cute to me, but I have a special place in my heart for dogs.

This year I will teach Algebra 1, Algebra 2 and College Prep Math.  My Warrior Time will be with 9th grade students who will Start Strong!  This year I am excited about incorporating our 1-1 technology in my math classes.  All students will be able to access their textbook online and use other math resources to help better comprehend the material.  I believe this advancement will be beneficial to both my students and myself.
