Mrs. Joelie McCrary

My name is Mrs. McCrary.

I grew up in the Greater Kansas City Area and attended the University of Missouri - Columbia where a received a bachelor's degree in Secondary Social Studies Education. After graduation, I started my teaching career at Smithville High School. I have since received a master's degree in Secondary Adminstration from William Woods University.

I enjoy spending time with my family and going outside with my kids. My husband and I like finding local restaurants that serve dishes from around the world to try new foods. I'm passionate about history and helping students view the past through multiple lenses. I find 20th century American history most interesting as well as how the American narrative affects all cultures and ethnicities.

I have taught many different social studies courses during my time in the district such as Psychology, AP Psychology, Civics, American History, and Contemporary Issues. This year I will teach both American History and AP Psychology. This year, my Warrior Time class will be with 9th-grade students who will START STRONG!

I look forward to meeting my new students and helping them get excited about social studies!
