Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Jennifer Robinson, EdS, LPC
Hello! I am excited to be in my 14th year at Smithville High School. Before coming to SHS, I worked at Valley View (alternative) High School in Blue Springs for 5 years. I have also worked with children in foster care, residential treatment, and in family therapy. I grew up in northeast Missouri - in a little town called Edina. I came to the Kansas City area in 1990 to attend college at William Jewell College in Liberty, MO and I have never left!
At SHS, I work with students in grades 10-12 with last names L-Z. The best part of my job is getting to work with students to help them reach their potential and meet their goals.
I have a Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology from Avila College and an Education Specialist Degree in Guidance & Counseling with a School Counseling Emphasis from UMKC. I have been a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Missouri since 1999.
In my personal life, I am married with two children: a son who is almost 18 and a daughter who is 14. They both attend SHS. I will also be an AFS host parent to a young man from Italy this year. In my spare time, I like to sing, garden, and watch my kids play sports.
This year, I am excited about being the parent of a senior and the host parent for an AFS student. I am also excited about the programs we are starting and/or enhancing at SHS this year, including Warrior Time, PBIS, and Trauma Sensitive Schools.
