Johnny D. Viebrock
I am originally from Cole Camp, Missouri in Benton County, near the geographic center of the state. I began teaching in 1995 at Strafford, Missouri, where I started a brand new Agriculture Education Program and FFA Chapter. In 1997, I had the opportunity to return to Missouri State University and teach for two years in the Agriculture Department under the direction Dr. Jim Hutter, Dr. Tommy Perkins, and Dr. Anson Elliott. During the summers of 1998 and 1999, I worked for the National FFA Organization as the "Advisor Coordinator" for the WLC program in Washington D.C. In 2000, I was given the opportunity to become only the eighth agriculture education teacher at Smithville High R-2 High School, since it was formed in 1932.
I am an Agriculture Educator and FFA Advisor by "Choice" not by "Chance". I want to do my best to help young people discover their own personal passions and find career success. Our family resides on a small farm just outside of Smithville. My wife is a vocal music teacher at Smithville Middle School. We have two boys and we are passionate about working with the land and taking care of our animals. We have a small produce stand named, "The Farm Wife's Table. Additionally, we work very hard for Larson's Cause, a non-profit organization that raises money for "critically ill" children in our district.
My course offering this year will be as follows:
Agriculture Food & Natural Resources
Agriculture Tractor Power
Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE)
Additionally, I serve as the FFA Advisor of the Smithville FFA Chapter and the Coach of the Smithville FFA Shooting Sports team.
During the 2020-2021 school year, our high school theme, "Be a WARRIOR...Be the 1" will build upon the foundation of "Start Strong, Be Strong, Stay Strong, and Finish Strong." I look forward to working with all my students this year, no matter what the format. Together we are "Strong" and will have a GREAT year!
