Mr. Mitchell Kline

Hello! My name is Mitchell Kline. I have been teaching legions of amazing High School students since 2009, and the cream of the crop in Smithville since 2014. Outside of school, I'm a reader, dog lover, movie buff, board gamer, and writer. I enjoy attending musicals, movies, concerts, festivals, conventions, and game nights with friends and family. I live in Shawnee, Kansas with my wonderful wife Mary, our two dogs Stormy and Daisy, and one extremely exuberant little addition: our first child, Malcolm.

I grew up in St. Joseph, and I received my Bachelor's Degree in Government and History from Missouri Western State University. I earned my Master's Degree in History at Northwest Missouri State University. I came to education through the realization that even substitute teaching was twice as fun as any job I'd ever had, and that it might be even more fulfilling to become a full-time educator. I originally taught in Mid-Missouri, ending in the Sedalia area with my first speech and debate team. I joined the Smithville family in 2014 after leaving mid-Missouri for Kansas, where my wife and family lived.  In my time in education, I have taught American History, Geography, US Government, Comparative Government, English Language Arts I through IV, Theater, Public Speaking, Forensics, and Debate.

This year I will teach Civics, AP US Government, AP Comparative Government, and ELA3. I am the founder and sponsor of the Pair O'Dice Game Club. I will be also an 11th grade warrior time teacher!
