Dr. Tracy Platt

Principal for 9-12th-grade students with last name A-G

Teamed with school counselor Karen Johnson.

I am proud to be a Smithville Warrior!  I just finished my 15th year in the Smithville R-II School District and my 22nd year in education.  I have lived in the area for 18 years and taught in Kansas before joining the Smithville School District. I absolutely love my job and I am incredibly grateful every day for the ability to work within a community that values education.   I have three children.  Jake is in his final year of college at the University of Missouri Kansas City and Riley will begin his junior year at Mizzou. My youngest, Madi, will start 8th grade at Smithville Middle School. We also have a dog named Cocoa.  I love learning, teaching, mentoring and supporting others to be the best they can be.

I started my career teaching elementary school.  I have taught grades Kindergarten through 5th grade.  I was an assistant principal and principal K-5 and chose to move to the high school for the 2016-2017 school year where I was an assistant principal and Director of our alternative program.  This will be my second year as principal of Smithville High School and I am eager to get going!

This is an exciting time to be joining the high school with our "Building STRONG" theme and fantastic staff! I have a purpose, passion and drive to make sure that EVERY STUDENT, EVERY DAY, NO MATTER WHAT is successful and has a good experience at our high school.  I am looking forward to working with an amazing group of educators and connecting with students to help them prepare for a successful future.

I am a Principal, life-long learner, forever teacher and I AM BUILDING STRONG!
