Mrs. Melanie Termorshuizen

I grew up in the Smithville area, then moved to North Carolina after college in 1994, where I began my career in education as a third and fourth grade teacher. My husband, Ernie, and I moved back to Missouri, and I spent the following 15 years as a stay at home mom to my four children, Sam, Caleb, Hannah, and Luke.  During that time I also pursued my Master’s Degree in Art Education.

In 2008, I began substitute teaching for the Smithville School District, and then became an instructional assistant in 2010 at the Primary building. I started teaching computer class at the Upper Elementary in the spring of 2015.

In the fall of 2017, I began teaching art at the high school: Art Foundations, Digital Photography, Sculpture, & Art Portfolio

In my free time I love to read, cook, bake, exercise, judge bbq competitions, create art, and spend time with my family.

This year, I'm excited about having my art students create art that is not only meaningful to them, but also expresses ways to improve our lives, our community, and even our country.

I will be a 10th grade Warrior Time teacher and I am WARRIOR STRONG!
