I am a Kansas farm girl who also worked 25+ years at the Federal Reserve Bank before becoming a teacher!   I have one, older brother, Tom, who lives in Shawnee, KS with his wife.  I have two nephews who also live in the Kansas City area!  Our mom lives in McCrite retirement center in Briarcliff.  My dad (and best friend) passed away in 2008.  I’m married to Mark Miettinen and we have two Bengal cats, Bubba and Sissy.  We love to travel and do a variety of outdoor activities.  With the finality that I would not have my own children, I returned to school to become a teacher!

I’m a first-generation college graduate from Emporia State University.  I attended ESU to become a teacher but as a freshman was guided to the School of Business.  I worked for 26 years for the Federal Reserve Bank in their management development program.  I am blessed to be sharing my experience with the next generation.

I teach the following classes: Accounting, Personal Finance, Intro to Business with emphasis in Entrepreneurship, Business Management with emphasis in leadership, Business Law and Computer Programming.   I am adviser of the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) club.  I teach using real, project-based learning with my passion of the free enterprise system with ethics and fun!

I am a Senior Warrior Time teacher, Senior class sponsor and STUCO sponsor.   FBLA also manages an in-school coffee shop, student store and operates some concession stands.
