Mrs. Reian Wilson
My name is Reian Wilson and I have had the pleasure of teaching at Smithville since 2015. My interview for my current position is the main reason I came to Smithville; I felt comfortable, needed and appreciated. Being a first year teacher, those characteristics were important to me and solidified that SHS would help me grow as an educator. Besides teaching, I enjoy spending time with my two children, Deacon (2 yrs old) and Iris (6 months old) and my husband Josh. As a family, we watch a lot of baseball and football games, as well as wrestling matches. When we aren't at sporting events we like to spend time at the playground and eating out. Josh and I have lots of family in the KC area, so we like planning visits to spend time with them too.
I originally thought I was destined for medical school or something that was related to health professions. It was through a volunteer experience in Columbia that I learned how "turned off to science" former high school students were. This bothered me and drove me to look into education. Once I started taking classes and completed some student-teaching, I knew I had found my niche.
Currently, I am teaching General Biology, Principles of Genetics, Anatomy & Physiology and Advance Biology (AP and Dual Enrollment). Science is a dynamic field aimed at bettering our world, but I especially love learning about conservation ecology and cellular biology.
I will be a 10th grade Warrior Time teacher and I am BUILDING STRONG!
