Ms. Lauren Hanrion

Hello! Although I'm a Kansas City native, I enjoyed most of my early life in Lebanon, Missouri. I loved the Greater Kansas City area so much that I decided to return! I'm a proud graduate of the University of East Anglia in Norwich, United Kingdom, where I earned my degree in History of Art and Anthropology. After earning my Master's degree in History and a Teacher Certificate in Social Studies (9-12) at Missouri State University, I was drawn to the community spirit of the Smithville School District. I chose Education as my career because it is genuinely fulfilling for me to see my students pursue their dreams and career aspirations. While I currently teach Social Studies, I am a lifelong learner of all subjects. I hope to inspire my students to enjoy the rewarding process of learning with whichever path they choose in life.

At the moment, I spend my time trying new things and visiting new places around Missouri. One of my passions is exploring different cultures, and you will often see me at local ethnic festivals and events. I love the idea of variety, so I'm interested in anything from attending museums, spending a day out in nature, or volunteering locally. When I have a larger amount of free time, I enjoy traveling to different countries to further develop my knowledge in Social Studies content. This year, I'm excited to emphasize the skill of critical thinking so that my students can apply content to the real world.

Currently, I'm teaching courses on American History, Global Studies, and World War II. I will be a 10th grade Warrior Time teacher and I am WARRIOR STRONG! WE ARE BETTER TOGETHER!
