I am the Athletic Trainer for the Smithville School Distirct. I reside just outside of Smithville with my significant other Tyee, my step daughter Noellie, and our furry girls Josey and Monday. We enjoy spending our weekends on the water at Smithville Lake and dirt track racing all over the area. I was brought to Smithville to help fill in as an athletic trainer beginning in 2011, little did I know that in addition to finding a new passion in work, I found a new HOME!
I first gained my A.A.S. at Missouri Western in the Physical Therapist Assistant Program. From there I continued my education to receive my B.S. in Exercise Science which allowed me to sit for my national athletic training certification. I became certified in 2002 and am licensed in both Missouri and Kansas. I have previously worked in the clinical setting and provided outreach at the semi-pro, collegiate, high school and youth levels of sports. In May 2017, I graduated with my M.S. in Exercise Science and Health Promotion. I also teach as an Adjunct Professor at Park University.
I have a very unique role here in the Smithville School District as the Athletic Trainer. I am the person that most parents don't want to hear from because it means your child has sustained an injury. My job is to take care of all student athlete injuries and illnesses. I provide medical services at school every afternoon as well as am available during all home matches and away football for the varsity level.
