Mr. Dalton Pittenger (He/Him)

Hello! I'm Mr. Pittenger (or Mr. P, or Mr. Pitt, or "Coach," take your pick!) and I am thrilled to begin the third year of my teaching career.

I was born and raised in Salina, KS where I fell in love with theatre onstage at my high school and backstage at the Salina Community Theatre. I decided that I loved high school theatre so much that I never wanted to stop doing it, so I earned my Bachelor's Degree of Science in Education in the content area of Speech Communication/Theatre at UCM. There, I was blessed to be involved with dozens of theatrical productions in a variety of roles, including being the first student to ever direct a main stage show during the school year. This was the world premiere of the play Not Waving which we performed not only at UCM but also at high schools in the KC metro. I student taught at Liberty North High School in Liberty, MO in the Spring of 2018 and began teaching at SHS in Fall 2018.

I am very excited to be working on our 2019-2020 theatre season, including:

Crush- Fall 2020

Little Women- Winter 2021

John Lennon & Me- Spring 2021

For the first time EVER, we are planning to produce 3 full-length mainstage shows at Smithville High School, which includes two full-length plays and one musical.

I currently teach Theatre Arts I & II, Theatre Production I & II, Theatre Ensemble I & II, and Fundamentals of Speech.

We are also in the process of reactivating International Thespian Society Troupe 6819 here at Smithville High and we would love for you to follow our adventures in that realm.
