Mrs. Rachel Cooper
Hello. My name is Rachel Cooper, and I am originally from Parsons, Kansas. My husband, Nathan, and I moved to Kansas City after we got married in 2010, and in the years since, our family has grown by two little boys and one big dog. We recently moved to Smithville so we could officially be part of the community. As a family we love parks and zoos and anything we can do together outdoors. When I get some free time, I love to read, watch movies, or play volleyball.
I graduated with a Bachelor's in Mathematics from Cornell College in Mt. Vernon, IA where I also played collegiate volleyball. Later, I received a Masters in Education in Teaching Mathematics from Northwest Missouri State University. I have always loved being a student, and I hope that my love of learning is something my students see in me and take away from all of my classes.
This year is my twelfth year teaching high school, but only my third teaching at Smithville High School. I spent the first nine years of my career at Platte County High School teaching mostly Geometry and Statistics, and I teach those same courses at Smithville High School! This year, I teach four classes of Geometry and two of AP Statistics as well as being a 10th grade Warrior Time teacher.
Outside of the classroom, I am the JV Warrior Volleyball coach. This is my sixth season coaching volleyball at the high school level, but first at Smithville.
