Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Shannon Helms
I am from Liberty, Missouri. I graduated from Liberty High School and went to Northwest Missouri State University where I received my degree in Early childhood and Elementary Education, with an endorsement in Early Childhood Special Education. I then completed my Masters’ degree in Administration from William Woods University. This is my seventeenth year teaching. I taught at the Early Childhood Center in North Kansas City District for 3 ½ years and then moved to West Englewood Elementary in 2006. I taught Kindergarten for 5 years, First grade for 7 years and then taught 1 year of 5th grade all at West Englewood. This will be my first year in the Smithville District and at Eagle Heights Elementary and starting my 8th year of First grade and 17th year of teaching.
I am married to Ryan Helms, a Kansas City Police officer, and we have three children. Alexis is 12 and is in Seventh Grade and Taylor is 9 and is in Fourth Grade. Mason is six and in First Grade. We enjoy spending time together as a family and my husband and I love working in the high school ministry at our church.
