The Smithville School District (SSD) is pleased to announce the Board of Education approved four assistant principals for the 2022-2023 school year.

Ashley Doll has accepted the role of full-time Assistant Principal for Maple Elementary School. Mrs. Doll is currently an assistant principal split between Eagle Heights Elementary School and Maple Elementary School. She has served in this role for two years, and was an instructional facilitator in the Fort Osage School District prior. Mrs. Doll has 19 years of experience as an educator; 12 of those years were as an elementary teacher.

“I am very grateful for the last two years and the opportunity to be a member of the Eagle Heights and Maple staff. I look forward to many more years as a part of the Warrior Family as I transition into the full time assistant principal at Maple Elementary,” stated Mrs. Doll.

Mrs. Doll attended the University of Central Missouri where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and also earned a Masters in Elementary School Administration from the University of Central Missouri. 

Mrs. Doll will start her new role on July 1, 2022. She will now be at Maple Elementary School full-time after the Smithville Board of Education approved a full-time assistant principal position for each elementary and middle school building within the District.

Mrs. Doll resides in Kearney along with her husband, Ryan, their two children, Scott and Bradley, and their yellow lab, Rocky

Jeff Haynes has accepted the role of Assistant Principal for Smithville Middle School. Mr. Haynes is currently an assistant principal at Raytown Middle School. He has served in this role for three years, and was a science teacher at Raytown Middle School for one year prior. Mr. Haynes has 14 years of experience as an educator. He also served as a science teacher at Raytown South High School and a Secondary Science Curriculum Coordinator in the Raytown School District.

“I am extremely excited about my new position here at Smithville. It is a great opportunity to give back to my community and help our students become prepared and productive citizens,” Mr. Haynes stated. “I am most excited about joining a team renowned for excellence. Smithville has a strong reputation for academics, sports and school spirit and I am honored to be able to contribute what I have learned over the past 14 years in education.”

Mr. Haynes attended the University of Missouri, Columbia, where he earned a Bachelor of Science and also holds a Masters of Education from Rockhurst University. He earned his Education Specialist degree in School Administration from University of Central Missouri.

Mr. Haynes will start his new role on July 1, 2022. He joins the Smithville Middle School family after Mr. Casey Kuska accepted a position as principal of Elm Grove Elementary School in the Fort Osage District, after serving as an assistant principal in the Smithville School District for four years.

Mr. Haynes resides in Smithville with his wife, Kristin, and their children, Carmen, Lilah, and James.

Taylor Jahn has accepted the role of Assistant Principal for Horizon Elementary School. Mrs. Jahn is currently an instructional coach in the Independence School District. She has served in this role for one year, and prior to that spent four years as an elementary instructional coach at Westview Elementary and a district math coach in the Excelsior Springs School District. Mrs. Jahn has 10 years of experience as an educator. Jahn taught 3rd and 4th grade at Lewis Elementary and K-8 gifted and talented in the Excelsior Springs School District.

"I am so thankful and excited to have been selected to serve as the assistant principal of Horizon Elementary! I am eager to serve the students, staff, and families at Horizon Elementary and thrilled to work together to continue to create purposeful, engaging, and fun learning opportunities. It is my privilege to join the Smithville Warrior Family!" Jahn stated.

Mrs. Jahn attended Missouri Western State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and also holds a Masters of Teaching in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of St. Mary. She earned her Education Specialist degree in School Administration and is currently pursuing a Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership from William Woods University.

Mrs. Jahn will start her new role on July 1, 2022. She joins the Horizon Elementary School family after the Smithville Board of Education approved a full-time assistant principal position for each elementary and middle school building within the District.

Mrs. Jahn resides in Parkville, MO with her husband, Garrett, and their pets, Shaka and Luna.

Brett Lackey has accepted the role of Assistant Principal for Smithville High School. Mr. Lackey is currently an assistant principal at Park Hill South High School. He has served in this role for seven years, and was an administrator intern at Park Hill South High School for three years prior. Mr. Lackey has 14 years of experience as an educator. He also served as a mathematics teacher at Park Hill South High School.

“I’m excited for the opportunity at Smithville High School. I look forward to partnering with students, parents, staff and community members to provide an excellent education and an amazing high school experience.” Mr. Lackey stated.

Mr. Lackey attended the University of Nebraska, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics Education and also holds a Masters of Education Administration from the University of Kansas.

Mr. Lackey will start his new role on July 1, 2022. He joins the Smithville High School family after Dr. Rachael Marchetti accepted a position as elementary principal at Eagle Heights Elementary School after serving as the assistant principal for two years.

Mr. Lackey resides in Kansas City, MO with his wife, Tara, and their children, Brayden and Bennett.

Justin Orscheln has accepted the role of Assistant Principal for Eagle Heights Elementary School. Mr. Orscheln is currently the music teacher at Maple Elementary School. He has served in this role for a total of nine years, and taught music at Lillian Schumacher Elementary School for one year. Mr. Orscheln has 10 years of experience as an educator.

“I am elated at the opportunity to serve Eagle Heights Elementary staff, students, and families as their assistant principal.” Mr. Orscheln stated. “I believe Dr. Marchetti and I are a dream team, set up with unparalleled teachers that continue to push the envelope with innovative teaching practices. It's an EVEN GREATER day to be a Warrior at Eagle Heights Elementary!”

Mr. Orscheln attended Missouri Baptist University, where he earned a Bachelor of Music Education and also holds a Masters of Science in Educational Leadership from Western Governors University.

Mr. Orscheln will start his new role on July 1, 2022. He joins the Eagle Heights Elementary School family after the Smithville Board of Education approved a full-time assistant principal position for each elementary and middle school building within the District.

Mr. Orscheln resides in Kansas City, MO with his husband, Ben, and their children, Landyn and Talon.
