    Title I Eligibility



    A child MAY be eligible for the Smithville Title I Early Childhood program if more than one of the

    following is true:

     

    • The child is 3, 4 or 5 (not eligible for kindergarten) years of age.
    • One or both of the parents of the child were in their teens when the child was born.
    • The child does not live with his or her parent(s).
    • The child lives with foster parents.
    • The child lives with only one parent.
    • The family of the child qualifies for the National School Lunch Program.
    • The family of the child is Homeless under the McKinney-Vento Education Act.
    • The family of the child is struggling with legal issues, substance abuse and/or domestic violence.
    • One or both of the child’s parents is incarcerated.
    • One or both parents did not complete secondary education or the high school equivalency.
    • The family of the child is in crisis due to chronic/terminal illness or a death of an immediate family member (child’s parent or sibling).
    • The child qualifies for services under the Individuals with Disability Education Act.
    • The child is transitioning from Missouri First Steps.
    • The child qualified for special education services in another state.
    • The child/family participates in Smithville Parents As Teachers (Parent Educator does home visits)
