SHS Joins the Suburban Conference Effective in the Fall of 2018

Smithville School District Joins the Suburban Conference Division

After 20 years in the Midland Empire Conference, Smithville School District officially makes the move up and joins the Suburban Conference effective in Fall of 2018.  SSD will be in the blue division of the conference.
This move comes after higher enrollment numbers. "As we continue to grow and add more offerings for our student body, we have continually needed to look to the Suburban Conference to fill out our schedules, said Athletic Director Darren Shaffer.  "Almost all of our Freshman and C Teams compete against Suburban Conference Schools because most schools in the MEC don't have young teams."
The blue division consists of 7 schools: Grain Valley, Winnetonka, Raytown South, Platte County, Grandview, Kearney and Smithville.
