Mrs. Amy Anderson will be joining SSD’s Central Office as a new Payroll Specialist.
Originally from Gladstone, MO, Mrs. Anderson is a graduate of the University of Missouri - Kansas City where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Studies and joins the Warrior Family, with nearly eleven years of accounting experience.
Mrs. Farah Balmer will be joining Horizon Elementary as a Reading Resource Instructional Assistant beginning next school year.
Originally from Gladstone, MO, Mrs. Balmer received a degree of Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Graceland University and Master of Arts in Language and Literacy from the University of Missouri - Kansas City.
Prior to joining the Warrior Family, Mrs. Balmer taught Kindergarten and First Grade at Our Savior Christian Academy, served as an Aftercare Teacher at Northland Christian School (Liberty Campus), and was a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Missouri Kansas City School of Education.
Scott Bogart will be joining Smithville School District as Director of Facilities.
Originally from Liberty, MO, Mr. Bogart joins the Warrior Family with 20 years of experience in the facility and maintenance field.
Mrs. Katie Bryan will be joining Maple Elementary as a new Early Childhood Special Education Teacher.
Originally from Smithville, Mrs. Bryan is a graduate of Central Methodist University where she majored in Early Childhood Education. She also earned a Masters of Arts in Teaching from Missouri Baptist University.
Mrs. Bryan has been with the Smithville School District for the last 5 years as a Special Education teacher in the Essential Skills classroom at Maple and Horizon Elementaries.
Ms. Tessa Courtoise will be joining Smithville High School as an Art Teacher.
Originally from Kearney, MO, Ms. Courtoise is a graduate of Missouri Western University where she earned a Bachelor's of Science in Education-Art. Prior to joining the Warrior Family, Ms. Courtoise taught Middle School Art in the Lawson School District.
Miss Monica Cox will be joining Smithville Middle School as an ELA Teacher.
Originally from Crocker, MO, Miss Cox will graduate from the University of Central Missouri with a degree in Middle School Education and an ELA certification.
Ms. Anna Fisher is joining Smithville School District’s Central Office as an Administrative Assistant.
Originally from Treynor, IA, Ms. Fisher has earned three degrees which include a Bachelors of Science in Education from Grace University, a Masters of Science in Education - Reading from Concordia University and a Master of Arts in Education - Mathematics from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
Prior to accepting this role, she has served at Maple Elementary School for 3 years and within the Omaha Public Schools for 9 years.
Miss Bailey Hiatt will be joining the team at Horizon Elementary School as an Elementary Special Education teacher.
Miss Hiatt is a graduate of Northwest Missouri State University where she double majored in Elementary Education and Special Education. She is set to graduate again from Northwest with a Masters in K-12 Leadership in August 2021.
Originally from Weston, MO, Miss Hiatt has worked as a Special Education Teacher for two years within the Raymore-Peculiar School District at Bridle Ridge Elementary.
Mr. Bret Marshall will be joining Smithville High School as a Social Studies teacher.
Mr. Marshall is originally from the Kansas City area and brings nine years of teaching experience to the High School. His previous education includes two degrees from the University of Central Missouri, a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Studies Education and a Masters of Science in Education Administration.
Mrs. Jennifer Rinehart is set to join the team at Horizon Elementary as a Library Media Specialist.
Originally from Kearney, MO, Mrs. Rinehart is a graduate of Northwest Missouri State University where she earned a degree in Elementary Education & Learning Disabilities followed by a Masters in Elementary Administration from William Woods University. She is currently working towards a second Master's Degree from the University of Missouri in Library and Information Sciences.
Mrs. Rinehart brings 20 years of teaching experience to the Smithville School District.
Mrs. Haley Ryun will be joining Smithville Middle School as a new Mathematics Teacher.
Mrs. Ryun earned a Bachelors of Science in Middle School Mathematics and Social Sciences from the University of Missouri. She then returned to Mizzou to earn a Masters in Online Education.
Mrs. Ryun previously taught pre-algebra for two years in the Kearney School District and another four years teaching math in her hometown of Platte City, MO.
Ms. Jessica Schmidt will be joining Smithville Middle School as a 7th & 8th Grade Resource teacher.
Originally from Moberly, MO, Ms. Schmidt earned a Bachelors in Elementary and High Incidence Special Education from Benedictine College and a Masters in Low Incidence Special Education from Pittsburg State University.
Prior to joining Smithville Middle School, Ms. Schmidt was a K-5 Autism Teacher for Leavenworth School District.
Mrs. Kass Simpson will be joining Smithville Middle School as an Administrative Assistant.
Originally from Osceola, IA, Mrs. Simpson attended college at Iowa Central Community College and Missouri Western State University.
Mrs. Donna Vennera will be joining Smithville High School as an Administrative Assistant.
Mrs. Vennera joins Smithville School District after working 17 years at Center High School as a Principal’s Secretary.
Mrs. Vennera attended the University of Kansas where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in English.
