(Smithville, MO, February 12, 2021) - Superintendent of Schools Dr. Todd Schuetz announced today that Smithville High School (SHS) and Smithville Middle School (SMS) will eliminate weekly virtual learning days. Beginning the week of February 22, 2021 the virtual day will be eliminated and the schedule will become alternating green and white days

“Fourteen staff members and our secondary principals met twice this week to discuss how we might safely create additional time with our students,” said Dr. Schuetz. “They provided the administration with feedback on both short-term plans and long-term plans.”

Additional long-term plans to increase face-to-face instructional time will require more discussion between staff, administration, and the Board of Education.

The next scheduled Board of Education meeting is Wednesday February, 17, 2021 at 7:00pm.

More information on weekly schedules at SHS and SMS will be provided by building administrators.
