What an amazing month October has been! I can't believe how quickly we have moved through it either. We are already to the end of the first quarter. The end of the quarter also means an early dismissal. Next Friday, November 2nd we will release at 12:05 pm.  As we bring the first quarter to a close I hope that everyone Finishes STRONG and takes time to reflect on goals and personal challenges with a growth mindset. Freshman have the most challenges first quarter as they adjust to high school but the class of 2022 has definitely STARTED STRONG and I hope will continue to find their way and get involved with as many activities as possible. Sophomores are to BE STRONG this year as they adjust to not being the youngest in the school and can now be role models for those freshman. My hope parents, is that you encourage your student to be kind and be the role model that impacts our school culture in a positive way. The Class of 2021 is currently settling into their role as sophomores nicely at S.H.S. Our juniors face the most difficult year of high school as they attempt to STAY STRONG through the challenges they face. Many of them are pushing themselves with difficult classes and lots of extra curricular. Parents my hope for our juniors is that you remind them to stay focused but also to have fun! Many students begin to over stress about the future as they begin to hone in on college or careers paths. Continue to encourage them to remain in the moment and enjoy their junior year so they don't look back and have any regrets. This is by far the most challenging year academically so please reach out to our admin or counseling team if you feel your student needs extra support. For the Class of 2019......they are FINISHING STRONG and appear to be engaged and involved. Our focus for our seniors right now is ATTENDANCE. They are showing the lowest attendance rate currently so parents please encourage your student to FINISH STRONG their first (and last first) quarter of their high school career.

I am extremely grateful for our amazing staff!! They spend countless hours trying to find ways to meet the needs of EVERY STUDENT, EVERY DAY, NO MATTER WHAT. My goal as the proud principal of "The Best High School" in the Northland is to focus on how we can help our students be the best student they can be. That means talking and teaching on a daily basis how to take care of themselves. We are continuing to grow our crowd with Monday's Matter and hope that many of your will try to join us with your student at some point to take time starting the week off by learning a new strategy for life. Our next Monday's Matter session will focus on failure and how we overcome the fear of failure so that we can work past it. Students (and adults) many times don't try because they are afraid to fail. Some of the most valuable lessons in life come from our failures. Please join us in the library Monday to learn more!

We have a busy week ahead of us with the end of first quarter as well as the end of our fall sports and activities. FINISH STRONG everyone and don't forget to join us for some Friday night football at home this week!

Students who do not feel well during the day must see the nurse before leaving school or they will be considered truant.   We have a lot of students texting parents for permission to go home when they don't feel good, they must see the nurse first. We appreciate your help with this process.
