Mrs. Abbey Meyer

The Smithville School District (SSD) is pleased to announce the Board of Education approved a new Maple Elementary School Assistant Principal for the 2023-2024 school year.

Abbey Meyer has accepted the role of Assistant Principal for Maple Elementary School. Mrs. Meyer is currently a fifth-grade English Language Arts teacher at Maple Elementary School. She has served in this role for four years, she was a third-grade teacher for seven years prior, and has served as a summer school administrator intern in the Smithville School District for three summer terms. Mrs. Meyer was named Maple Elementary’s Teacher of the Year in 2021- 2022, and Cameron’s Intermediate Teacher of the Year in 2018-2019.

“I am extremely excited for this opportunity to be the next assistant principal at Maple Elementary School.” stated Mrs. Meyer. “Maple Elementary School is an amazing place and I am proud to be a part of it! I look forward to continuing the work that is happening at Maple Elementary with our staff, students, and families.”

Mrs. Meyer attended Missouri Western State University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education, with a minor in Early Childhood Education. She also holds a Masters in Elementary School Administration from William Woods University. 

Mrs. Meyer will start her new role on July 1, 2023. She and her husband, Jake, reside in Smithville and have an eighth-grade daughter, Maddy.
