On Wednesday, September 17, the Smithville School District will officially break ground on several exciting projects made possible by the community’s support of the April 2025 bond initiative. The Groundbreaking Ceremony will take place at 4:30 p.m. at Smithville High School, marking the start of construction and improvements that will positively impact students for generations to come.
The bond, approved by voters this spring, provides funding for major updates to the entrance and select classrooms at Smithville High School, as well as upgrades to the softball and baseball facilities, playground improvements at all three elementary schools, and renovated library, restrooms, and locker room at Smithville Middle School. District leaders, Board of Education members, staff, students, and community partners will join together to celebrate the beginning of this new chapter.
The event will include remarks from district leadership, recognition of key partners in the planning process, and an official shovel-turning ceremony. Community members are invited to attend and share in this milestone celebration.
Construction will continue through the school year, with the district committed to keeping families, staff, and community members updated on progress.
