We have a student lead event coming soon for our Principal, Mr. Moore! It's the Scott Moore Basketball Tournament! It will be April 17th at 5pm and will feature a bake sale and a local business raffle. It's a CASH ONLY event. Congratulations to these fine writers. Last night, at the Platte Clay Electric Cooperative in Kearney, MO, students from Platte and Clay counties presented their essays to a panel of judges from the region.
Mason Throm and Noah Hazen will be attending the Youth Cycle in Jefferson City this summer and Isabella Monachello will be attending the Youth Tour in Washington D.C. !!!


Our Archery team competed in the State Archery Tournament a couple of weeks ago and they have more tournaments coming up. There's still time to go out and support them! Contact Jeremy Batliner for future tournament dates!

Mr. Viebrock's Ag Construction Students were getting hands on experience in the shop yesterday!




Yesterday's field trip was to the orthopedic research and surgery lab. This is the 2nd year the PLTW biomedical, Human Body Systems, has gone. You can see some students are trying the arthroscopic surgery trainer. This is the same thing the doctors in training use. They learned about repairing broken bones and joint replacements. Great time had by all!


SHS Scholar Bowl wins the 2024 GKCSC Blue Division Conference Championship another year! SHS Scholar Bowl has won the conference every year since SHS joined the Suburban Conference. Congrats Mason West, Abby Nichols, Emma Ochse, Will Bailey, Isabella Monachello, Owen Knight, Mason Throm, and Lily Burns.

The Polar Plunge event put on by Student Council went great on Sunday! We had 6 participants and raised just over $500 for Special Olympics! Shout out to Clay County Parks and Rec, NRAD, Smithville Fire Department, and Clay County Sheriff’s Office for helping out with this event. Thank Luci Siler and Mr. Hedgecorth for their important roles in communicating, facilitating, and planning this event.
