With a 6am bus time, the Smithville Warriors XC team loaded up for the long drive to Joplin, Missouri, to compete in MSSU’s Southern Stampede. For the first time, Smithville attended this meet with all athletes…varsity and junior varsity. While varsity athletes competed on a 5K course, JV athletes competed on a 3K course.
The day was a big confidence booster for the team as many set season PRs, with many setting lifetime PRs! The varsity boys were Gold Division champions, the varsity girls were Gold Division runners-up, the JV girls were runners-up, and the JV boys pulled 3rd as a team.
A special shout out goes to Asa Kellner, Liam Adair, Carter Massie, Isaac Edson, and Regan Dunn for running the second fastest team time in Smithville school history with an average time of 17:07…just 3 seconds behind the 2018 team that was 3rd at state.
