The Smithville Warriors began their 2022 campaign Saturday, March 19th at the Northland Leadoff Tournament, hosted at Creekside Ballpark. In game one the Warriors defeated the Park Hill Trojans 11-9 . Junior Justin Perkins earned the start on the mound, turning in 4IP, allowing only 2 hits and 2ER. Junior Andrew Hedgecorth cleared the bases in the top of the 7th with a 3RBI double that proved to be the difference. Hedgecorth also struck out 5, earning the save on the mound.

In game two the Warriors were unable to close the door against the Rockhurst Hawklets, losing 10-9. Junior Samuel Wornson and Senior Adin Murawski both supplied 2 hits a piece in the contest, combining for 7RBI’s. Sophomore Austin Miller provided 2.2 innings of relief for the Warriors on the mound, allowing only 2 hits and striking out 4.

 

The Warriors will be back in action Monday with a morning double-header, taking on Blue Springs at 9:00AM and Kearney at 11:0oAM.
