The Smithville Warriors were back in action for day two of the Northland Leadoff tournament Monday morning. In the 9:00AM game the Warriors faced off against the Blue Springs Wildcats, falling in the contest by a final score of 8-7. Senior Mason Crim turned in a productive start on the mound, striking out four and only allowing four earned runs in five innings of work. Senior Chester Brooks led the way offensively, providing three hits and scoring one run from the leadoff spot.

In game two the Warriors mounted a six run comeback to defeat the Kearney Bulldogs in dramatic fashion, 11-10. Junior Garrett Pulse provided the game winning hit, plating Chester Brooks in the bottom of the 7th with a one out RBI single. Junior Andrew Hedgecorth provided three hits in the contest as well as a critical scoreless inning on the mound in the top of the 7th. Junior Preston Rash started the game with three innings on the mound, allowing only two earned runs.

 

The Warriors play Grain Valley on Wednesday March 23rd at 5:00PM for their Metro Leadoff Tournament finale.
