In their home opener at Smithville High School the Warriors Varsity defeated the Savannah Savages 7-5 Friday night. Junior Andrew Hedgecorth got things started on the mound, providing five innings pitched, allowing only two earned runs and striking out three. Fellow Junior Lukas Noecker slammed the door in the final two innings, striking out three of his own and allowing only one baserunner to reach. Offensively Junior Ryker Edwards provided a hit, a walk and a pair of important RBI’s. Senior Chester Brooks and Junior Ryan Weers both scored two runs a piece.

 

In Junior Varsity action the Warriors won 11-0 in five innings. Sophomore Tanner Lamb got the start on the mound and went four scoreless, Junior Lucas Clay picked up the final scoreless frame. Big hits were provided by Junior Tristan Henshaw, Sophomore Austin Miller, Freshman Drake Odneal and many others.

 

The Warriors will take on Excelsior Springs in a V/JV doubleheader Monday April 4th at home. First pitch for varsity is set for 4PM with JV starting immediately after.
