2026-2027 Kindergarten Registration OPEN NOW!

Must register by March 21st to attend Kindergarten Screening

Children five years of age on or before July 31, 2026, are eligible to enroll in Kindergarten for the 2026-27 school year. Families are encouraged to visit the Smithville School District Boundary Map for confirmation of elementary school attendance area.

  1. The following documents are required for enrollment:

    1. Student’s birth certificate

    2. Student’s immunization records

    3. Proof of residency (current gas, sewer, water or electric bill; lease or real estate contract)

  2. Complete the Pre-Registration Form located on the SSD registration and enrollment website under New Student Enrollment. Once the pre-registration process has been submitted, you will receive an email with the subject “Smithville School District New Student Enrollment” to create a Parent PowerSchool Portal Account. Once your Powerschool Parent Portal Account has been created, you will click on Forms from the menu options on the left side of the screen. Complete each form.

  3. After uploading all required documents and completing the online enrollment process, your elementary school registrar will contact you to schedule your Kindergarten screening appointment. Screenings are held in early April. Appointment slots are first come based on completed registration.

Why does Smithville School District require Proof of Residency?

As part of a continued focus on maintaining fiscal accountability to our taxpayers and patrons, ensuring our tax dollars are spent on Smithville School District students, the District requires proof of residency.

Electric, gas, sewer, or water utility statement, dated February 1, 2026, or later with parent(s) name(s) and current address. (No final or disconnect notices accepted).

  • Telephone Bill

  • Cable Bill

  • Driver’s License

  • Printed Check

  • General Mail

  • Property Tax Receipt

  • Residential Warranty Deed

  • Bank Statement

  • Insurance Bill

Current residential lease agreement, signed by resident and landlord. Ending date cannot be before September 1, 2026.

Residential housing contract (purchase) with possession or closing date within 90 days of the first day of school (November 15, 2026).
