The Smithville School District is pleased to announce that the Board of Education has approved a new Assistant Principal at Eagle Heights Elementary School for the 2026–2027 school year. Mrs. Katie Betts will replace Mr. Justin Orscheln, who is joining the Park Hill School District.
Mrs. Betts has accepted the role of Eagle Heights Elementary Assistant Principal. She has spent the past decade in the Park Hill School District serving as a classroom teacher and, most recently, as an Elementary Math Specialist. Her experience supporting both students and staff reflects her commitment to high levels of learning for all.
“I am truly looking forward to serving Eagle Heights as your new Assistant Principal and becoming an active member of the Smithville community,” said Mrs. Betts. “Having loved my time in the classroom, I deeply respect the dedication and hard work that educators bring each day. I am eager to work together to make Eagle Heights an even stronger place for students and staff alike.”
Mrs. Betts earned her bachelor’s degree from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo; her teaching credential from California State University, Fullerton; her master’s degree from Northwest Missouri State University; and her specialist degree from Park University.
She will begin her new role on July 1, 2026. Please join us in congratulating and welcoming Mrs. Betts to the Warrior family.
