Warrior Shout-Out: Aimee is the most selfless caring individual I have met. She always meets students where they are and responds with a gentle heart. Students are comfortable going to her with their problems and they know she will not judge them. I am very fortunate to have her to brainstorm thoughts and ideas off of and know a solution will happen. Aimee is a champion for all!

Warrior Shout-Out: Mrs Uptegrove is an amazingly gifted teacher and brings years of experience as well as passion and insight into teaching our youngest students. She carefully plans lessons, worksheets, activities and crafts to enhance and reinforce learning. She also introduces content that goes beyond the basic pre-k level giving students a chance to excel according to their level. Her classroom management provides organization and structure to the daily routine. And on top of all this, she is a caring, open-minded, creative and considerate co-worker. Our district is better because of her wealth of talent and expertise.
Yesterday was an incredible day at the Missouri State Capitol! So proud to share some snapshots from the day's event, where our talented cadet teachers showcased their passion for education during the Missouri School Board Association Student Advocacy Day. 🍎 They shared their journey as teaching interns with visitors from all corners of the state, leaving a lasting impression on everyone they met. Shoutout to Representatives Josh Hurlbert and Chris Brown for taking the time to engage with our cadet teachers. These confident leaders did an outstanding job representing the Smithville School District. Keep shining bright! 💫

Warrior Shout-Out: “Ben is an incredibly innovative thinker and brings a desire to improve himself to work everyday. Speaking with Ben recently, I learned that at a local professional development conference he learned of a new way to incorporate technology into his instruction in the Warrior Activity Center after school and he did not hesitate to explore this new possibility. Through his own exploration, he managed to find a new way to demonstrate and instruct our students in proper exercise mechanics to promote wellness and safety. Additionally, Ben does a wonderful job connecting with his students on a personal level. Students gravitate towards his presence and this ability to connect with his students is clearly visible in teaching and general demeanor. Ben Matthews is definitely an Ultimate Warrior!”

Warrior Shout-Out: "Mrs. Johnson has been filling in as Acting Principal here at Horizon and she is so amazing at it. She is so organized and professional. Every morning she sends out communication to the building with daily information that keeps everyone in the loop. She is excellent at prioritizing situations that arise and takes every matter seriously. She is very knowledgeable of administrative duties and district procedures. We can expect the building to run smoothly when she is in charge. Thank you Mrs. Johnson for your leadership! We are lucky to have you here at Horizon!"
