While entering into a new position with a lot of unknowns she has handled it with grace. Asking questions without fear and constantly striving to do what is best for her students. Kaitlin has really helped me out every day with something new as a first year teacher. She helps me with such grace and understanding which is exactly what I am looking for. She not only takes care of her baby at home but me! I appreciate all she does for me and so happy she is my grade level teammate.

Mrs Ellis is calm, patient and caring. It is impressive the amount of focus she gives to the kids and what she gets in return. Her classroom is a safe space for kids to learn not only the fundamentals, but also work on the art of following instructions and listening. She is consistent with the positive energy she gives off and it is appreciated.

Students in grades 7-12 are invited to gather in downtown Smithville after every home football game until 11:30 pm. There will be activities and prize drawings each week. Nellies, Cornerstone Coffee, Chops, and Humphreys will all be open for post-game eats. Parents will be asked to drop-off and pick-up non-drivers at First Christian Church (201 N. Bridge St). Volunteers will be there to help direct and keep kids safe. If you would like to volunteer to help, please email dfcsmithvillecia@gmail.com.

Students at SSD elementary schools can earn Tribe Tickets for positive behavior, which they then can use to "purchase" items from a menu. These students from Eagle Heights Elementary School "purchased" eating lunch with their teacher. Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is an evidence-based three tiered framework designed to promote positive behavior and support student success through building-wide expectations, 4:1 positive interactions, and individualized student success plans based on student needs. #ssdpride
