Not only did she step up to fill a role for the district, her compassion and dedication show through on a daily basis. While entering into a new position with a lot of unknowns she has handled it with grace. Asking questions without fear and constantly striving to do what is best for her students. Kaitlin has really helped me out every day with something new as a first year teacher. She helps me with such grace and understanding which is exactly what I am looking for. Mrs Ellis is calm, patient and caring. It is impressive the amount of focus she gives to the kids and what she gets in return. Her classroom is a safe space for kids to learn not only the fundamentals, but also work on the art of following instructions and listening. She is consistent with the positive energy she gives off and it is appreciated.

"Gabe goes above and beyond to make sure our Student Information System (PowerSchool) is properly configured and secure. Gabe isn't afraid of going the extra-mile for user training to make sure our Staff feel comfortable inside of PowerSchool. Gabe's attitude and drive makes him the Ultimate Warrior.

Students in grades 7-12 are invited to gather in downtown Smithville after every home football game until 11:30 pm. There will be activities and prize drawings each week. Nellies, Cornerstone Coffee, Chops, and Humphreys will all be open for post-game eats. Parents will be asked to drop-off and pick-up non-drivers at First Christian Church (201 N. Bridge St). Volunteers will be there to help direct and keep kids safe. If you would like to volunteer to help, please email dfcsmithvillecia@gmail.com.
