Throwing it back to 2002 — a night to remember when one of our high school students shared a dance with a senior citizen at the Senior Citizen Prom. A beautiful reminder that great memories and joy have no age limits! ❤️

💻🔧 Happy IT Professionals Day! 🔧💻 Today we’re giving a huge THANK YOU to the tech wizards who keep our schools running smoothly behind the screens. From fixing glitches to setting up systems, you’re the reason we stay connected and secure!

Today is IT Professionals Day, Thank you
Maple PE just got a boost! Coach Anderson has a new teammate this year — Cadet Teacher Coach Cook!
Cadet Teaching is a professional experience in which students participate in real-world learning experiences that includes classroom learning and a placement within the district in a desired grade and/or content level. Students dive into all aspects of education and being an effective teacher. Their placement serves as an internship to gain hands-on experience with students and a means to apply what they're learning about teaching.
We love seeing future educators in action and the positive impact they’re already making!

Smithville School District is excited to announce that SHS seniors, Emily Duckwitz and Rayna Williams have been named semifinalists in the 2026 National Merit competition. These students scored well on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) last fall. Just over 16,000 of the 1.3 million entrants are chosen. 15,000 National Merit finalists will be announced in February. From there, 660 students will be chosen to receive Special Scholarships and 6,930 will be chosen for Merit Scholarships. That final announcement should come in March. Congratulations to these outstanding SHS seniors!

"Kevin is a lifesaver when it comes to computer technology! He never quits until he solves a problem. He is analytical, thorough and helps everyone understand even when we don't know the technical terms. I don't think I have seen a harder worker when it comes to programs and making sure everything is running smoothly. He always gives 110% when he is at work. He is here before everyone and is usually the last person to leave. I also see how much he cares for his co-workers, especially his mom~they are so fortunate to be able to work together and it is apparent where he gets the hard working genes from!"

"Kevin goes above and beyond each day to ensure that the entire District's network is up and running for students and staff alike to use. He learns new systems/software every week in order to help ensure that our Internet of Things keeps running smoothly and safely during the school day. He is always a phone call away and is a staple to the Technology Department. His hard work and determination prove that he has the heart of a Warrior!"

Throwing it back to the junior who got hands-on experience welding at the Northland Career Center in 2004! 🛠️🔥

Do you remember anyone who attended the Northland Career Center?

Junior participates in welding at the Northland Career Center in 2004.

Today students in Mrs. Saxton’s 4th grade classroom at Maple Elementary played a math game that challenges students to roll dice, add the numbers, multiply the sum by 11, and then race to get four in a row. Building strong math skills while keeping students engaged and excited about learning!🎲🎲

🌧️It may have been a rainy morning, but that didn’t stop Horizon 5th graders from getting their wiggles out this afternoon! Thanks to the support of voters in April 2025, our playground now has more all-weather playing surface, keeping kids active and parents happy (no more muddy clothes coming home!). 💚
